Most small business website owners understand the importance of having a short, clear business description on their home page. But they often forget to link the text to relevant pages on the site. That’s a missed opportunity.
Notice how this company tells visitors about the services they offer, but don’t make it easy to immediately click through to more details about each of those services:
or in this example where not only are there no links in the text, but there’s no list of specific services offered:
Of course a home page these days should not be text-heavy, but where you do use text, make sure you’re providing links to allow visitors to act immediately if they’re interested.
This is not only good for visitors, but it helps search engines understand your site structure, and internal linking is thought to be one of the many factors in search ranking.
