Heads of state travel with security cases filled with vital state documents, files, and codes. You should approach your website and general online presence with the same care. When you go on vacation, make sure you have all vital information securely stored for easy retrieval should the need arise.
I would recommend using a secure thumb drive so you can access it no matter what device is available to you on the road. Storing it on your phone isn’t a good idea because it’s something you can easily lose and is an obvious target for thieves. You don’t want anyone accidently getting hold of this information.
Here’s a starter list for what to include on the drive:
- Your domain registrar login details
- Your web hosting account login details
- Your cloud storage login details
- Your email login details
- Your content management login details
- Your social media account login details
Obviously if you have multiple websites, emails, and so on, you’d want details for all of them.
Keep this password-protected USB stick in a ziploc bag or other waterproof container and in the same place as all your important travel documents. As added protection, you could keep the same list in an encrypted file in your cloud storage.
